Admission Guidelines

 

 

Combination of Subjects Offered

Senior Secondary (Plus Two) System
Medical Group : English, Punjabi*, Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
Non-Medical Group : English, Punjabi, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.

*Candidates who have not studied Punjabi at any stage may opt for Punjab History & Culture in lieu of Punjabi.

 

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

B.A./B.Sc. (Economics) Part-I : A part from English language as a communication skill and compulsory Punjabi, a student can offer one  of the following combinations.
Section A (B.Sc. Economics) : Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics/Quantitative Techniques.
Section B : Economics, Public Administration, Political Science.
NOTE : This section is formed keeping in mind the Competitive Examinations, The medium of instruction is English.
Section C: History, Public Administration, Political Science.
Section D: History, Political Science, Elective Punjabi/Hindi/English.
Section E: History, Political Science, Physical Education (Sports Section).
Section F: History, Math/Q.T., Religious Study.

 

General Rules/ Requirements For Admission
1. Admission to different classes will be made on the basis of merit to be determined by a academic merit, written test and interview as per the admission schedule.
2. No ”failure” or absentee in examination is eligible for admission to any class or course.
3. A student who has joined the college and subsequently appears as private candidate forfeits the rights to admission in the college in future.
4. A student cannot apply for more than two courses in one session. For each course he/she has to fill in a separate form. In case he/she is selected in both, choice would be with the candidate. As and when the candidate deposits the fee for one course the claim for the other course will be automatically forfeited.
5. Only those candidates will be eligible to sit in the test who have applied on prescribed performa and paid Registration Fee of  Rs. 300/- (Non refundable) within the due date.

A candidate seeking admission to the college is required to fulfil the following requirements. In case of non-compliance, if any, the admission granted stands cancelled automatically.

  1. To fill in all the particulars on the prescribed admission form in his/her own hand-writing. Incomplete forms will be rejected.
  2. To affix two passport size copies of latest photograph, duly signed, by the student, on the specified space of the admission form.
  3. To attach the following certificates/documents with the admission form :
    • Certificate/detailed marks card of having passed the lower examination.
    • A copy of the matriculation certificate as a proof of the date of birth.
    • Character certificate from the head of institution last attended as regular student.
    • Students belonging to Scheduled castes/Tribes/Backward Classes are required to attach a certificate to that effect from the competent authority. Affidavits will not be accepted.
7. Students from the Universities of Punjab or Punjab School Education Board will not be required to produce eligibility certificate from Guru Nanak Dev University.
8.

A student from any other Indian University or Board seeking admission/migration to the College will be required to attach the following additional documents :

  1. Inter-University Migration Certificate.
  2. Eligibility Certificate from Guru Nanak Dev University.
9. Failed/detained students from any College/University are not admitted to the College in any case.
10. Such students whose result of the lower examination is notified as ”Result later” by any Board or University except our own students appeared as regular candidates, will not be allowed admission to the higher class even provisionally.
11. Students who are placed under compartment in any examination of another University shall not be allowed admission to the higher class even provisionally.
12. Students admitted provisionally to any class are required to submit the original certificate of the lower examination passed within 30 days of the admission for issue of University Registration number to confirm admission by the University. In case of non-compliance of the same the admission of the student shall stand cancelled automatically and the dues paid by the student shall not be refunded.
13. If a student makes a false declaration in the Admission Form, his/her admission to the college shall stand cancelled as soon as the false declaration is detected. The case may be handed over to the Police.
14. Only our own pass/compartment students will be admitted to Plus Two (Science & Commerce), B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. II/III and M.A./M.Sc.-II Classes. No outsider/failure will be considered for admission to these classes.
15. THE PRINCIPAL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO GRANT OR REFUSE OR CANCEL ADMISSION TO ANY CANDIDATE.
16. The Principal reserves the right to cancel the admission of such students who have been admitted to the College without assigning any reason whatsoever during the admission days and in that the entire amount paid by the student will be refunded to him/her.
17. In case of serious misbehaviour or disturbance caused to academic atmosphere of the College, absence from class/house test or indulgence in unfair means in any examination, the Principal has the right to withdraw Character Certificate of a student, delete his/her name from the College rolls and ban his/her entry into the College.
18. Keeping in mind the academic atmosphere in college, the students (girls/boys) are instructed to wear decent clothes in the college.
19. Students are not allowed to come to the college in four wheelers.
20. Change of Faculty/Combinations/Subject is permissible within given dates only. After which no change will be allowed.
21. College Players (who are members of college teams of Inter College Competitions of G.N.D.U.) can offer physical education. The admission forms of these students will be sent only if they fulfil the conditions for games. The  players will be allotted Section-E.

 

For the Attention of Parents and Students
1. The parents and the students are required to go through the prospectus carefully before signing. The total responsibility of having read the rules and regulations shall be upon the parents and the students and they shall be bound by the same.
2. U.G.C. HAS RECOMMENDED A SYSTEM OF PROHIBITION, PREVENTION AND PUNISHMENT, TO PUT AN END TO THE MENACE OF RAGGING. STUDENTS MUST NOTE THAT RAGGING IS PUNISHABLE BY LAW.
3. Don’t carry Mobile Phones in the College.
4. Students with two wheelers should bear college security stickers.
5. Don’t scribble , put posters or litter.
6. Attendence of the students in all college functions and celebrations is compulsory.
7. All vacant posts will be filled in July.
