The Hostel and Hostel Rules
The college hostels provide modern amenities and healthy
living conditions. Some of the rules that the boarders are
required to observe are as follows :
1. The accommodation in the college hostels is provided on
’first come first served basis. Merit is the only consideration
in the allotment of cubicles.
2. Fresh admission to Hostels will be made only in case of
students joining Plus One/B.Sc.-I/B.C.A.-I/B.Com.-I/M.A.-I/M.Sc.-I
classes. For all other classes only boarders of previous years
will be accommodated.
3. Preference is given to students coming from far off places
while allotting seats in the hostels.
4. The Sikh students, who join the hostel are required to
observe the Sikh Rahit and to take Amrit in deference to the
wishes of the founders of the institution. They are also required
to attend the Gurdwara daily.
5. All the boarders are responsible for maintaining the hostel
articles issued to them and returning them in good condition
when they leave the hostel. THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR
ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE. No student is allowed to remove any hostel
article from the hostel.
6. The resident students must join the kitchen of the hostel
in which they reside. Meals will, in no case, be served in
the room.
7. The boarders are required to pay their mess dues by 10th
of each month. A boarder, who fails to make payment of mess
dues in time, will be fined 50p. per day upto 15th and Re.
1/- per day after 15th and if dues are not cleared by the
20th of the month, he will not be permitted to take meals
in the mess till he clears all the dues.The dues shall be
paid to the Fee clerk in the college office.
8. Boarders are not allowed to keep any guest in their rooms
at night. Only real brother or father of the boarder can stay
at night but that too in the Hostel Guest Room. IN NO CASE
SHALL A BOARDER ENTERTAIN A FEMALE GUEST IN THE HOSTEL (for
Boys Hostels). Violation of this rule will invite expulsion
of the student from the hostel as well as from the College.
9. A resident who leaves a light on during his absence from
the room will be fined Rs. 2/- each time he/she does so.
10. The Roll Call will be taken at 9.30 p.m. every night.
Every boarder must remain in his/her own room at that time,
otherwise he/she will be marked absent. Boarders must not
leave their rooms after the roll call. Each night absence
will entail a fine Rs. 2/-.
11. Continuous absence from the Hostel for more than 7 days
will lead to expulsion of the boarder from the hostel.
12. THE RIGHT OF ADMISSION TO THE HOSTELS IS RESERVED WITH
THE PRINCIPAL.
13. The resident students cannot hold meeting of any kind
in the hostel without the permission of Warden. Nor can they
raise any subscription for any purpose or do propaganda of
any kind individually or collectively. VIOLATION OF THIS
RULE WOULD ENTAIL EXPULSION OF THE BOARDER.
14. Leave for absence from the hostel for three nights can
be obtained from the Warden personally; leave for more than
three nights can be granted by the Chief Warden only. However,
for Sunday and holidays, boarders may obtain leave from the
Hostel Superintendent.
15. The students are required not to keep large sums of money
with them. They can open an account in the Punjab & Sind
Bank, at the College gate or deposit money with the hostel
Superintendent and obtain receipt.
16. SMOKING AND DRINKING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. ANY BODY
FOUND DRUNK OR DRINKING IN THE HOSTELS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY
EXPELLED FINED RS. 50/- AND EXPELLED FROM THE HOSTEL IMMEDIATELY.
17. IF THE BILL FOR ELECTRIC SUPPLY FOR A PARTICULAR HOSTEL/WING
FOR A PARTICULAR MONTH IS HIGHER THAN THE AMOUNT AND BY THE
BOARDERS OF THAT HOSTEL/WING, THE EXCESS AMOUNT WILL BE SHARED
EQUALLY BY THE BOARDERS OF THAT HOSTEL/WING.
18. MEDDLING WITH ELECTRIC METER, THE MAIN SWITCHES OR ELECTRIC
FITTINGS AND THE USE OF ELECTRIC HEATER, PRESS OR RADIO BY
THE BOARDERS WILL ENTAIL A FINE UPTO RS. 100/-. THE ELECTRIC
APPLIANCE THUS USED WILL BE CONFISCATED.
19. A RESIDENT STUDENT FOUND GUILTY OF MORAL TURPITUDE, INDISCIPLINE,
GAMBLING, VIOLENCE OR COMMITTING THEFT WILL BE PUNISHED WITH
A HEAVY FINE OR RUSTICATION FROM THE HOSTEL AND COLLEGE ROLLS.
20. All residents are required to sleep at night in thei
r own rooms. Sleeping in other rooms is not permitted. Offender
will be punished.
