We are presently living in the 21st century when information and knowledge has replaced the jet age and computer age of the last century.
Life long learning is no longer simply a phrase but a reality, which will have to be adopted by anyone who intends to survive and prosper in this
century. Learning should be viewed as the most important investment that anyone can undertake.
Khalsa College is proud to play its positive role in society by providing a range of learning opportunities designed to start individuals
on their life time learning journey. Thus to inspire, motivate, and channelize the energy amongst students, the College invites luminaries whose
own achievements in life are an example of success achieved through hard work and determination. Prof. (Dr.) Mool Chand Sharma, Former Vice
Chairperson, U.G.C. and presently Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Haryana proved to be a great inspiration to passing out students at the
103rd Convocation. Dr. Sharma's words, "Earn as much as you can but have the capacity to return to the society, the parents and
institution" made the students aware of their responsibility towards the society.
Regular seminars, workshops, extension lectures and educational tours are the academic features of the College curriculum. In the previous
session, the college hosted nine day workshop in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. Seminars were organized on pertinent
issues like "Global Financial Meltdown and Its impact on Indian Economy", "Recent Trends in Science & Technology", "Jallianwala
Bagh Tragedy and Indian Freedom Movement". Scholars, whether they be legal luminaries namely Hon'ble Justice M.M. Kumar, Justice Ajay K.
Mittal and S.H.S. Mattewal, Advocate General, Punjab or scientists of international acclaim like Dr. V. Venugopal graced the college functions
and left an indelible mark on the minds of the students with their motivating words.
The hallmark of Khalsa College is a progressive system of education which balances ethics, academics, sports, cultural, NCC and NSS
activities. This kind of system allows students freedom to develop their talents in any avenue they desire. New courses like Diploma in Financial
Services (Banking & Taxation) and Diploma in Horticulture along with Functional English, Music and Fine Arts have provided valuable
additional options and qualifications in tune with the current needs of the time. Latest teaching methodologies are applied to impart quality
education. These include the use of LCD, OHP (over head projectors), well equipped laboratories and a language lab with all infrastructures. To
meet the urgent need of the present times, a well organized Career Guidance and Placement Cell works effectively to provide guidance and job
opportunities to students. The institute is also widely known for its achievements in cultural and sports activities. The marked feature of the
last session was that our College has hosted 14th National Youth Festival by the Government of India and Punjab Government. Our College Bhangra
team has the distinction of winning Ist position at the National level.
Most of the achievements of this great institute have been the result of the far sighted vision and dynamic endeavors of devoted and
committed management, energetic and dedicated teaching faculty that has always strived to achieve high degree of excellence in education.
Dear Students, I welcome you all to this historic 117 years old College where moral values which when applied to modern education
vis-a-vis human behaviour exalt and refine life and bring it in accord with the standards of conduct that are appreciated in our democratic
culture.It is only with the whole hearted support, cooperation and confidence of the parents and students in us that we will be
able to fulfill our mission of providing a new dimension to education.
