SPECIAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

1. Special Merit Scholarships will be awarded to Top brilliant students on the basis of their merit in the admission/Merit Scholarship  tests.

2. The Scholarship will be awarded initially for 4 months. renewable for another 4 months on the basis of top merit in the special scholarship test to be held in mid-November. This would give an opportunity to other aspirants to come up in the merit.

3. For award of any scholarship a student must secure at least 60% marks in the special admission/merit scholarship test. However, the highest scholarship of Rs. 150/- (wherever applicable) will be available only if a students secures 70% of above marks in the above tests.

4. For availing any scholarship, the awardee must secure over 95% attendance, and his conduct/behaviour report should be very good.

5. A scholarship will be withdrawn immediately if an awardee indulges in indiscipline or violation of college rules or absents himself/herself in a class/house test.

Number and amount of scholarship class wise, will be notified.

GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

1. National Scholarship Scheme : The students are granted scholarships every year on the basis of the Matic/+2 and Graduate examinations. The number of scholarships to be given is decided by the Indian Govt. Those students of Matric and Plus Two are given these scholarships whose parents annual income is Rs. 25,000/- There is no income limit fixed for the Graduates who are granted scholarships on merit. The scholarship once granted continues till the student gets the degree. It is renewed every year on the basis of the progress shown by the student.

2. State Competence Scholarship Scheme : Under the State Competence Scholarship Scheme, the Punjab Govt. grants the scholarships for General Education to the students on the basis of Plus Two and Graduate Examinations on merit. These scholarships are granted to those students whose parents annual income is Rs. 25,000/-. The student must be a resident of Punjab and have passed the examination from the institution under Punjab State. The student must seek admission in Punjab state.

NOTE : The students placed in merit under the National and State Scholarship schemes have to submit their forms to the Head of the institutions conducting examination and the Principal of the educational institutions have to submit these forms after attestation to the Institutions conducting examination within a stipulated period.

3. Scholarship to promote Hindi for Non-Hindi Speaking Students : This is a centre sponsored Scheme. Applications are invited from the colleges of the State Scholarships are granted on the basis of Merit in B.A. and M.A. Only those students are granted these scholarship who are resident of Punjab State & have passed all examinations from Punjab.

4. Scholarship for the Teacher’s Children : The Scholarships are granted to the children of the teachers every year on Merit bases. The annual income of the parents should not exceed Rs. 25,000/-. An application form for these scholarship can be obtained from the DPI (Colleges) Office, Punjab.

5. Scholarships for Students of 1984 Riot Affected Families : The Punjab State Grants the Scholarship every year to the students who belong to riot affected families (1984). An attested copy of the Red Card by concerned D.C. must be submitted along with the scholarship form.

STIPENDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

The merit, poor and deserving students are awarded stipends, scholarships and incentive on the basis of their achievements in various fields of academic activity. All public, national, state and university scholarships are tenable in this college. In addition, the college offers following scholarships :-

1.  Macauliffe Scholarships : A scholarship of Rs. 200/- p.m. for committed Gursikh student. It is sponsored by the Sikh Cultural Society of Great Britain.

2. Principal G.A. Wathen Scholarships : Amount Rs. 150/- per month.

3. S. Kartar Singh (Novelty Sweets) Scholarship : Amount Rs. 100/- per month each for B.Sc. Food Technology Part I, II & III respectively.

4. S. Joginder Singh Dhillon Scholarship : Two scholarships of Rs. 100/- per month.

5. S. Rajinder Singh Scholarship : Amount Rs. 100/- per month to M.A. Pol. Sc. and M.Sc. Chemistry in alternate year.

6. S. Sunder Singh Chhatwal Scholarship : Rs. 200/- per month for committed Gursikh student.

8. S. Santokh Singh Chawla Scholarship : Rs. 100/- per month for student who tops in B.Com. Ist year.

9. Sardarni Bhagwanti, S. Santokh Singh Chawla Scholarship : Amount Rs. 100/- per month for topper of Plus Two (Med.).

10. Sardarni Attar Kaur Memorial Stipend : Amount Rs. 300/- per annum for students of 11th and 12th who top in previous board examination.

11. S. Narain Singh, Gurdip Kaur Hassan Scholarship.

12. S. Gurmukh Singh Chawla Scholarship : Rs. 100/- per month for outstanding athlete of the college.

13. S. Bhagat Singh Thind Scholarship.

14. Late S. Kanwaljeet Singh Arora, husband of Mrs. Chand Kaur Arora Scholarship and Gold Medal : Four scholarship Rs. 450/- each.

15. S. Naunidh Singh Stipend : This stipend equivalent to tuition fee, given to fatherless and poor student.

16. Col. Bawa Jiwan Singh Stipends : Amount of Rs. 450/- (approx).

17. S. Binode Singh Stipends : Three stipends to the students standing first in B.Sc. Agr. Part I, Part II and Part III respectively.

18. S. Mitter Singh Scholarship : A quarterly scholarship of Rs. 125/- to a student of M.A.-II English/Economics alternately, who stands first among college students in University Examination.

19. Prof. Amrik Singh Stipend : Rs. 500/- per annum for deserving student who studies Mathematics as subject.

20. S. Joginder Singh Chawla Scholarship : Rs. 100/- per month for the topper of B.Sc. Part I.

21. Sardarni Parsin Kaur Sarkaria, S. Inder Singh Tehsildar Scholarship : Rs. 5000/- for Gursikh students (boys/girls).

22. S. Narain Singh Chawla : For Sikh student of Agriculture department.

23. Sewa Singh Partap Singh Stipends : For Students of 10+2 Med/Non-Med./B.Sc.-I

24. Guru Gobind Singh Stipends.

25. Bhai Heera Singh Stipends : For Amritdhari students of B.A II taking part in Kirtan.

26. Nabha Malwa Stipends.

27. Bawa Mool Singh Stipend.

28. Macauliffe Memorial Stipends : 8 divinity stipends.

29. S. Maninder Singh Stipend.

30. S. Mihan Singh Smt. Basant Kaur Stipend : Stipends equal to tuition fee to be given to poor students.

31. S. Manohar Singh and Sardarni Gursharan Kaur Stipend : Two stipends of Rs. 1250/- each (in four instalments) for very poor students.

32. Late Sh. Ram Nath Mahendroo and Smt. Phoolan Rani Mahendroo Stipend : For students who top in M.Com. Part I and M.Sc. Agr. Part I.

33. Brig. Mann Singh Oberoi Stipend : Rs. 1000/- for Plus Two Med/Non-Med. students.

34. S. Gurbhajan Singh Stipend : Rs. 1000/- per annum for B.Sc. (Agr.) students.

35. Dr. Sarup Singh Marwaha Stipend : For Plus One/Plus Two Science group.

36. S. Jagjit Singh Chawla Chief Khalsa Dewan Stipend : Rs. 200/- per month quarterly for the needy Sikh boy.

37. Sant Baba Sham Singh Ji, Sant Baba Sehaj Singh Ji Stipend : Rs. 1500/- per annum to be given to 2 Agriculture, 2 Science group, 2 Computer Sc. and 2 Arts students on the basis of merit.

38. Principal Bishen Singh Samundri Stipend : Rs. 300/- per month (for four years) given to student who stands first in Plus Two and takes admission in B.Sc. (Agr.) course.

39. Bibi Surjit Kaur Dhariwal Memorial Scholarship : Rs. 1000/- for the topper in University Examination of Physiotherapy.

40. Late Sh. Khazan Singh Jolly Scholarship : Two stipends of Rs. 1000/- per annum for B.Sc. I and B.Sc. II (Med. & NOn-Med.) University Examination toppers.

41. Sri Guru Harkrishan Kirpa Trust Scholarships : Rs. 150/- per month for economically under priviledged and bright student of B.Sc. (Comp. Sc., Comp. Maint. & Comp. Application).

42. Sardarni Kirpal Kaur and S. Amar Singh Dua Scholarships.

43. S. Sabdal Singh Scholarship : Rs. 200/- per month for the most needy & poor student.

44. Late Col. Joga Singh Memorial Scholarship : Rs. 300/- per month for B.Sc. III (Non-Med.).

45. Sardarni Daljit Kaur Memorial Scholarship : Rs. 200/- per month for meritorious student of Plus Two.

46. Sh. Amar Nath Sharma Scholarship.

47. Sant Sadhu Singh Dhariwal Memorial Scholarship : Rs. 750/- per annum for topper in M.Sc. Botany Part I.

48. Dr. Hariweer Singh Memorial Scholarship Award.

49. rof. M.S. Garkhel Scholarship : Rs. 1500/- per annum for student who secures maximum marks in the Univ. Examination of M.Sc. (Chemistry) Part I.

50. S. Wattan Singh Registrar Scholarship : To be paid out of interest earned from the amount of Rs. 47100/- donated by S. Sajjan Singh Bajwa of U.S.A.

51. S. Joginder Singh Scholarship : To be awarded as per direction of the donor, S. Joginder Singh of U.K. out of interest earned from FDR  of Rs. 36,500/-

52. Mandeep Kaur Memorial scholoarship : To be paid out of the interest earned from FDR of Rs. 5000/- donated by her father for the topper of M.Sc.(Botany) Part-II

53. S. Bela Singh former Sarpanch Scholarship : To be paid out of interest earned from FDR of Rs. 20,000/- donated by his son S. Harbhajan Singh Gill.

54. Bibi Harnam Kaur, daughter of S. Nand Singh Shaheed Saragarhi Scholarship to be awarded out of endowment of $1300 for the perpetuity, donated by S. Rajinder Singh Rana of U.S.A.
