HISTORY

Khalsa College Senior Sec. School is the parent institution of world famous Khalsa institutions, was founded on Sunday the 22nd Oct., 1893, in a hired building opposite Hall Gate up to middle level. On Oct., 19, 1896, this institution was shifted to the building, where governing council office is presently located. In 1960 this institution was upgraded to Higher Secondary level. With the introduction of New policy of education-1986 .this institution was upgraded to Senior Secondary level. At present, this institution has 40 teaching rooms in addition to activity rooms and a well furnished lecture hall with a capacity of 250 persons.

Two well furnished staff rooms are available for ladies and gents staff members. A well decorated and spacious Principal's office can clearly depict the achievements of the institution at the very first sight of visitor. All the teaching rooms are connected to the Principal's office with a sound system. Lush green and well kept lawns provided the most suitable academic environment to the students as well as the teachers. Overall this institution cater the needs of about two thousand students from all walks of life and society.

AFFILIATAION

This institution is affiliated to Punjab School Education Board Mohali.

STATUS

This institution is recognised by the Punjab School Education Board and receives aid under 95% grant in aid scheme.

HIGHLIGHTS OF INSTITUTION

Keeping in view the achievements of institution and personal dedication of the principal for the cause of education, Punjab Government bestows upon him State Award in year 2001-2002 and Government of India honoured him with National Award in year 2002-2003.
Academic results of this institution are far better than the board average and some of our students got merit positions in recent years.

The achievement of our institution in sports in 2003-2004 is worth mentioning.

i) In athletics, best athlete at district level belongs to our institution and eleven students of our institution represented Amritsar district in state games at Ludihana.

ii) Football team of our institution stood first at district level. 9 players at senior level and five at junior level represented Amritsar district at state level games.

iii) In swimming and waterpolo there is no match to this institution since last 20 years. Best swimmer of Punjab also belongs to this institution who setup 100m free style record at Punjab level. Four swimmer under-17 and one swimmer under-14 represented Punjab in National Games held at Surat.

iv) Again the best ‘Yogi” at state level belong to our institution. Eight students of our institution represented Punjab at national level games in West Bengal.

v) Nine players of our institution participated in Punjab games held at Patiala in fencing.

vi) Our institution always stood first in throw ball since this game has been introduced in the school games.

vii) In Basketball one student of our institution selected for Junior India Camp.

viii) In Handball six players of our institution represented Amritsar at sate level and among them one was selected  for Punjab team.

ix) In Judo, eight students represented Amritsar district at sTate level. Two students of our institution won gold medal at National level.

x) In Volleyball, Under-17 teams stood first at district level while under-19 team stood second at above level and one player was selected for national games.

xi) In Boxing, three boxers of our institution represented Amritsar district at state level and won silver medals.

xii) In the national games 12 players of our institution represented Amritsar at State level in under-17 category.

School Bhangra team retained the top place at the state level for two consecutive years.
One of our student stood first in “on the spot” painting competition conducted by Punjab School Education Board.
In Scout, 11 Scouts won Governor awards and 5 scouts won President award.
In First aid, institution’s Junior team stood second in national level competition held at Banglore.
In science field one students of this institution got selected for state level competition.
In religious field, students won scholarship in religious competitions held under the supervision of S.G.P.C.
Four N.C.C. cadets of our institution won cash prizes of Rs. 10,000/- each for best academic results offered by National Cadet Corps.
